The Saddleback Valley Humane Society was founded on the idea of helping companion animals in need. Ever since our organization was established, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest.
Our team is made up entirely of volunteers.
NOTICE: WE DO NOT OPERATE A SHELTER AND CANNOT ACCEPT ANY ANIMALS
The cities of San Clemente, Mission Viejo and Irvine operate shelters as does the County of Orange.
If you need Financial Assistance to treat a sick or injured pet, or to spay/neuter your pet, please read the following information
carefully:
General Medical: We will only consider offering financial assistance to help pets whose guardians reside in Central or South Orange County, California – generally, the 714 and 949
area codes. All others are considered out of our service area and may be referred elsewhere.
Before offering financial assistance, one of our volunteers must speak with your vet or someone from your vet’s office to determine the nature of the injury/illness, recommended diagnostic tests,
prescribed treatment, prognosis and estimated cost. All of these factors help us determine how much will be offered to assist in the care of your pet.
There is no guarantee that we will, in all cases, offer financial assistance. Financial assistance is offered and the amount determined on a case-by-case basis.
Requests for financial assistance should be made by calling our Helpline at 949.262.5859. This is an answering service that is monitored by our volunteers. Leave a detailed message including your
first and last name, phone number, the city in which you reside, the name and phone number of your vet and the nature of the illness or injury.
Or, you may contact us via email at susansvhs@hotmail.com – include: your first and last name, the city in which you reside, your phone number and email, along with a description of your pet’s
illness or injury, plus your vet’s name and phone number.
We ONLY reimburse veterinarians, not individuals – no exceptions.
Due to the high call volume, not all calls will be returned. Due to the high volume of email inquiries we receive, you may not get a response.
Spay/Neuter: Central and South Orange County, CA
Our organization is dedicated to reducing pet populations. If you reside in Central or South Orange County, California, please call our Helpline at 949.262.5859 to request

procedure. We do not issue vouchers. Again, we only reimburse veterinarians, not individuals – no exceptions.
